About

Anne Howeson artist in camper van

Anne Howeson lives and works in London and Italy. She uses drawing to explore themes of place, narrative, time and memory. For many years she was a tutor at the Royal College of Art, promoting drawing as outcome, process, and way of thinking, and is now a full time practitioner working on self initiated drawing projects for exhibition. Her first solo exhibition Remember Me, at Guardian News and Media 2009, recorded architectural regeneration in King’s Cross, London. Present in the Past, at Collyer Bristow, London, 2015, took digital fragments from archive material, initially from the Museum of London’s prints and drawings archive, reinventing and transforming their content and scale into drawings that shared stories about mortality and the passing of time. Feet of Angels, Carey Blyth Gallery, Oxford 2023, collaborated with the Fox Talbot digital photography archive, held by the Bodleian Library, Oxford, in a new narrative series, looking at human identity, war and dispossession.

Anne Howeson is a Jerwood Drawing Prize winner. She was shortlisted for the Derwent Art prize and National Open Art Award in 2014, the Ruskin Prize in 2017 and was an ING Discerning Eye invited artist in 2011, 2016 and 2020. She has works in several Public Collections.
